April 22nd Predictions
Ahh, a classic battle at The Sac. Scott
Carmichael vs. Joey
Creighton. The Holy Whites vs. the Horsemen. This will
be the game of the week. But first, the Holy Whites will have to
play the well-rested Road Warriors. Actually everyone in the league
should be well rested--there hasn't been a game in three weeks--but
the Road Warriors had a bye that week, meaning they haven't played
since opening day, four weeks ago.
However, the Holy Whites are the best
team in the league right now and I don't expect them to cool off
yet. Yet again, the Road Warriors are better than their 1-2 record
indicates. Expect a split here, with the Holy Whites winning the
first game, and the Road Warriors taking the second one.
Onto the main event. If this were the
first game of the day, I think I'd pick the Horsemen. However, I
believe that because of the doubleheader against the Y&R
and then the trip to The Sac, the shorthanded Horsemen will begin
to tire and will lose a close game. Look for Scott Carmichael to
pound Horsemen pitching late in the game.
Call me crazy, but I believe the main
factor in this game will be that the Holy Whites get to play all
three games at The Sac, while the Horsemen have to travel between
games.
Predictions:
Holy Whites 10 Road Warriors 6
Road Warriors 4 Holy Whites 3
Holy Whites 8 Horsemen 5
Games at The Byrd House:
(2) Y&R (1-2) vs. Horsemen (2-4)
(1) Y&R (1-2) vs. Road Warriors (1-2)
As for the games at the Byrd House,
the Young and the Restless should expect a very rough day. First
of all, they'll be playing without team captain, Greg
Creighton, who will be out of town. The lack of team
leadership, and the fact that they are playing the red-hot Horsemen
duo in two of their three games may be too much for them to handle.
The return of James
Vassar should help the Y&R score a few extra runs, but
don't be surprised if the Y&R lose both ends of this doubleheader.
The Road Warriors will arrive at the
Byrd House after their battle with the Holy Whites. Expect a big
game from Luke
Carriere, and a solid outing from the rest of the Road
Warriors' squad. The Y&R will need to take an early lead in order
to stay in this game. I expect this game to be a lot closer than
the first two games at the Byrd House, but with the Road Warriors
taking this one, perhaps in extra innings. If I'm right, this means
Derek
Byrd will get swept on his "home field," even though
he is technically on the away team for one of the three games.
Predictions:
Horsemen 8 Y&R 3
Horsemen 11 Y&R 7
Road Warriors 6 Y&R 5 (6 innings)
Final Records for the Day:
Horsemen (2-1)
Holy Whites (2-1)
Road Warriors (2-1)
Young and the Restless (0-3)
