WB2K1/KGJWFBL Cliff's Notes IV

Thank you for reading another addition of Cliff's Notes. I'm not exactly sure what is going to happen with Cliff's Notes. I could go back to Shot From the Teeth, or just stick with Cliff's Notes and not talk about the KGJWFBL anymore. Express your opinion! Write me an e-mail, or say something in the message board. And if you want to be totally cool, write to Commish Creighton about how great Cliff is!

Anyway, back to the article. This is a special post-game addition, featuring all the inside news on the 3rd Annual All-Star Weekend. Let's get right to it...

Homerun Derby: Well, to start off, Cliff goes 0-1. I predicted James to win it all easily, but he struggled in the first round and got knocked out. I think it had to do with the extra pressure of fans watching, but when I brought that up to James he said, "It was because your fucking ugly face was right behind me yelling 'Go James!' Now get the fuck away from me." That obviously wasn't it, he was just teasing me.

Terry Creighton set a new record with 11 homers in one round. This is obviously due to the fact that the pressure of James playing wasn't there. Also, the pitches were thrown very easily to him, unlike the other players who had 80-mph fastballs coming at them.

In the end though, Joey Creighton won for the 3rd straight year by beating his younger brother 4-3. The commish wins again! My god, this is the most rigged event out here. Guess who threw him his pitches? Teammate Seth Yoder! Hello! Am I the only one noticing these things?!

All in all, I was disappointed with the Homerun Derby. It obviously was another case of Joey Creighton keeping his ego high right before James Vassar tears him a new one in the All-Star Game.

WB2K1 vs. KGJWFBL: Wow, what a match up! This had all the right elements to be a pitching duel! I changed my pick half way through the game to 2-1, in favor of WB2k1. It just seemed like both teams were not going to ease up on the pitching. But I was wrong...again. WB2k1 did win the game, so I guess I got that right, but it wasn't really an even pitching match-up. I must say that some of the KGJWFBL guys did have some talent as far as rookie level go.

Cliff Ponders: If the four WB2k1 rookies this year took on the six WB2k1 players that played against the KGJWFBL, what would the score be? Cliff Predictions: 14-2, in favor of the six players.

The KGJWFBL guys were heard later saying that they didn't come up to Chico with their best players. Then again, the WB2k1 guys didn't go down to SF with their best players and they didn't lose 44-0. I guess questions will have to remain questions until next year.

Rookie Game: Alright, for Cliff's predictions, I have been 1-1, but with this game, I jumped to 2-1! Why? Because I said this game would rock and it did! A walk-off homerun by Ian Byrd capped off an exciting (and fairly fast paced) rookie game. The only thing that would have made this game better would be if they went into extra innings! That would be cool if Ian hit the game winning homerun in the bottom of the 7th! It would have been just as great as the KGJ game!

Aaron Kemper hit a homerun and Darnell Uhland (teammate) put down the autograph pen and almost cried. That was a notable happening.

All-Star Game: Alright, Cliff predicted the team of Scott Carmichael, Mike Walsh and James Vassar to win 3-0, but I lost, but they won 3-1. So Cliff was 2-2 for the day, not bad. The mystery guest was former Oakland A's baseball player (just retired), John Jaha. This guy must have brought out four people! It was amazing! Everyone was cheering, yelling, etc. It was madness. Onto the game...

James gave up the one run but it was because the stupid neighbors and their stupid friends were outside talking to each other. Who can pitch a solid inning when you got four people talking about fishing? James also made the play of the day. It was in the 3rd inning. It was great. Check out the video!

Most people are saying that Scott Carmichael should get the MVP because he hit the go-ahead homerun in the bottom of the third that turned out to the be the game winner, but Cliff can't overlook the performance from James Vassar. A great play that saved the team from winning 3-2 instead of 3-1, and he got out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning. Commish Creighton doesn't value my opinion though, so nevermind.

So that is basically it. After everything, everyone knew it was a special weekend. It wasn't your regular showdown and that was a nice change.

With that, go the message board and write what you think my regular column should be called! But don't go all at once or the server will crash and no one will vote. So just wait around an hour before writing in. I'll see you all next time...

Till then,

This is,

Cliff Rancho
