2000 Game Summaries
March 26th, 2000
Game 01 Final score 3-6
(Seth Y, Derek B, Casey S, James V) vs.
(Scott C, Bruce L, Jeff M, Mickey K)
Scott starts the season on the mound and K's the side. Scott
leads off and hits a HR (up 1-0... something tells me he's still
pissed off about his winterball performance). Mickey doubles
with two outs, but he's left stranded. Top of second inning and
Bruce gets a quick three outs from the mound, then turns around to hit
a double. Scott homers in Bruce (up 3-0). Top of third, a
sign of life from Seth Yoder as he singles. Visitors fail to
move him home, but defensively shut out the inning. Top of
fourth: Casey singles, James flies out, Seth walks, and Derek hits a
line drive over the wall (tied 3-3). At the bottom of the fourth
inning the tie would be broken as Jeff singles, Mickey takes a walk,
and Scott sends them all home with another homerun (up 6-3) .
Top of fifth: Scott retires the game when striking out all three
batters.
Game rating: ***1/2
Game 02 Final score 3-5
(Mickey K, James V, Jeff K, Terry C) vs. (Bruce
L, Derek B, Greg C, Eric C)
First Inning: James homers (up 1-0), and then pitches the second
inning. He retires the side. Third inning: Greg on the
mound results in three straight K's, and allows his offense a chance
to gain the lead. So after three straight walks, thanks to Jeff
Kragel's pitching, Eric smacks a grand slam (up 4-1). However,
in the top of the fourth, Jeff won't tolerate humiliation and hit a
two run shot, immediately after James' single (down, a less
humiliating, 3-4). But, the humiliation would continue as Greg starts
off with a double, Eric walks, Bruce singles, Derek hits into a
fielders choice at home, and Greg hits into one too at third while
driving in Eric (up 5-3) Bruce strikes out to end their drive,
but makes up for it when he seals the victory on the mound.
Game rating: ***
Game 03 Final score 3-6
(Derek B, Eric C, Bruce L, Scott C) vs. (Casey
S, Seth Y, Jeff M, Joey C)
First inning: Casey throws a 1-2-3 inning and then hits a single
to start his team's short offensive drive. Joey doubles to send
Casey home (up 1-0). Top of second: Derek singles off
Seth. Seth takes it personally to the bottom of the inning and
hits a double. The next at bat Jeff hits a homerun of the two
run variety (up 3-0). Top of third: Scott hits a homerun
off Jeff to start the inning. Two outs later Bruce singles and
then Scott hits another (tied 3-3). At the bottom of the inning
Jeff counters with a single, Joey walks, Casey hits into a double
play, and Seth hits a homerun driving in an additional runner named
Joey (up 5-3) Top of fourth: Joey on the mound equals
three quick outs. Casey starts the bottom of the inning with a
solo shot off Scott. Jeff would take a walk, Joey would single,
Casey hit into a fielder's choice at third, and Seth's K would ensure
no more runs to be scored. Top of the fifth: Casey throwing to
the plate results in three straight outs.
Game rating: ***
Game 04 Final score 1-3
(Casey C, Scott C, Seth Y, Greg C) vs. ( Jeff M,
Terry C, Mickey K, Joey C)
The first inning is highlighted by good pitching from Jeff
Morrison and Casey Sylvester. Top of second inning: Scott hits
solo homerun off Terry (up 1-0). Jeff, in the bottom of the
inning, starts a drive by taking a walk. Mickey follows the
veteran's decision and takes one too. Joey smacks a three run
shot off Scott (up 3-1). Top of third: Greg takes a walk, but
three outs later nothing comes of his veteran decision. No
further runs would be scored for both teams, despite a nice single
from Jeff, a double from Joey, and two walks taken by Seth and Greg.
Game rating: **1/2
