2000 Game Summaries
April 9th, 2000
Game05 Final score: 2-1
(Derek B, Bruce L, Mark, James V) vs.
(Terry C, Joey C, Jeff M, Scott C)
Just two singles from Derek and James start the inning. In the
bottom of the first Terry starts a drive with a single, Joey hits into
a fielder's choice, Jeff M smacks a single and Joey pushes
forward to third base. With Joey at the corner, Terry finishes
what he started with a single (up 1-0). Second inning: James
hits a single and is, seemingly, the only one who is participating on
his team, as Bruce, Mark, and Derek chip in a quick three outs to end
the inning. The third: James, single-handely ties the game
with a solo homerun off Jeff M. Jeff M returns with a single,
but the tie game holds. Fourth inning: not much happens.
Bruce singles and Mark puts the bat on the ball, but with Scott
pitching what can you expect? Same goes for the bottom of the
inning as James pitches. Fifth inning: Terry sends 3
batters to the dugout in disappointment, then grabs his bat to win the
game with a solo, first-pitch homerun off Derek (final 2-1).

Game 06 Final score: 2-0
(Scott C, Derek B, Jeff M, Seth Y) vs. ( James
V, Bruce L, Mickey K, Mark M)
First Inning: Up first, Scott... homerun (up 1-0). Second
inning: Derek walks and gets to second base thanks to Jeff M's
single. That's all that is notable for this inning. Third
inning: something more should have happened in this inning, but it
didn't. Fourth: finally, action occurs as Jeff M hits an
opposite way homer as he is often known for (up 2-0). Scott
takes the mound at the fifth... game over. Note: Bruce was
the only from his team to have a hit, and he had two of them.
Game rating: **
Game 07 Final score: 11-4
(Casey S, James V, Terry C, Mark M) vs. (Derek
B, Seth Y, Joey C, Mickey K)
Casey starts his day with a double, James hits a single, Terry smacks
a double pushing in Casey (up 1-0), and James, trying to turn small
errors into runs, is thrown out at home. Casey hits another
double and in comes Terry (up 2-0). Bottom of first: Casey
gives up his only hit of the day to Derek. Second
inning: Terry singles, Mark walks, Casey singles, and James walks
scoring Terry (up 3-0). Who's pitching? Seth. Later, Mark hits a
three run shot (up 6-0). Bottom of second: Derek hits a
double Joey gets him home with a homer (down 6-2). Mickey would
later double, however it wouldn't supply runs. Third inning:
Joey gives himself a break as he throws a quick three outs. Joey
would then bring in Mickey as he turns a would be single into a
homerun due to a series of errors forced by Mark (down 6-4). It was
the first ever inside the park homerun in the history of this
league. Fourth inning: Mark singles setting up a two run
shot from Casey off Mickey (up 8-4). Fifth inning: Derek
slacks off from the mound after giving up a two run dong to James (up
10-4). Mark takes advantage of Derek and hits a solo homerun (up
11-4). Casey finishes the game with a 1-2-3 inning from the
mound.
Game rating: * (this was gonna be at least a two star game
until Derek gave up)
Game 08 Final score: 6-2
(James V, Jeff M, Terry, Casey C) vs. (Mickey K,
Scott C, Derek B, Joey C)
Defense is the name of the game until the bottom of the second when
Mickey hits a homerun off Jeff M (up 1-0). Third inning: Terry
walks, Casey hits two run homerun, Terry walks again, Casey hits two
run homerun again (up 4-1). Defense is no longer the name of the
game. Bottom of third: Mickey hits one more solo HR off Terry
(down 4-2). Fourth inning: Casey hits his third homerun in
a row, but this time it's only bringing in one run (up 5-2).
Casey pitches flawlessly to finish the inning. James seals the
win with a homerun (up 6-2) and then follows through on the mound.

Game Day Summary for games
5-8
Players (# of games played): Derek
(4), James (4), Joey (3), Terry (3), Scott (3), , Mark (3), Mickey
(3), Jeff M (3), Bruce (2), Casey (2), Seth (2)
Total players: 11
Notes: Casey bats .615, hits 3 hrs with 5 rbi's in one game,
and only gives up one hit in two games played. James finally
clears his losing record, adding two wins. The next-door
neighbor participated when she struck us down with her words after not
being pleased with our words. In short, she doesn't like it when
profanity echoes in her quiet neighborhood. This forced many
players to play with a moderately censored mouth, no matter how many
HR's Casey wouldn't stop hitting. Weather was purrrfect (that's
for the wiffle ball calendar owners).
