The
top choice of the 2003 draft and your front-runner for the Rookie
of the Year award, this true lefty brings the total package to the
Road Warriors. After years of Aaron Kempers and Jeff Registers,
Darnell Uhland and the Road Warriors are being spoiled with their
current rookie crop, led by this man.
Curtis has holes
in his swing, but he's got enough talent to put up good enough numbers
as he learns the strike zone. And with his baseball background,
he should figure it out faster than most. He does seem to be vulnerable
against the curve, as Matt Holmberg was having his way with him
during Winterball. Still, he can turn on the ball as well as anyone
and should have no problem hitting .275 or better.
Curtis' arm
could be something special. He's new, and will learn things the
hard way, but he'll benefit greatly by being on Uhland and Dave
Cain's team. By the end of the season, Curtis could be as good as
Darnell, and will give the Road Warriors their first ever 1-2 punch
from the mound.
Curtis did make
a couple errors in the field during Winterball, and will probably
not be anything special. Still, he shouldn't lose any games for
them either, playing totally passable defense. |
