The
last pick of the 2003 draft could very well hit .300 if he can build
on what is already a solid base. The younger brother of Matt Plummer,
Pat should play in a style similar to Dean Evans, and with the lineup
around him, could flourish.
His bat is not
going to hit many out, but it will put him on base. In limited playing
time during Winterball, he proved he could hit the other way whenever
the opportunity presented itself, and looked completely natural
doing it. In other words, these weren't fluke texas leaguers. Get
on base will be all he needs to do anyway, with the three teammates
he's got hitting around him. And he'll get plenty to hit, as most
will consider him the weakest hitter on the team. That's not saying
much though.
Pat's arm looks
totally average. He had above-average accuracy, which is good to
see from a rookie, but he'll be overshadowed by teammate Curtis
Henning and his own brother. Still, an ERA below 4.00 shouldn't
surprise anyone and should not hurt the Road Warriors too much,
considering they could be scoring up to 6-7 a game routinely.
His fielding
looked solid. He has exceptional hand-eye coordination and looks
natural fielding grounders to either side. Definitely not a liability
in the field. |
