A
co-worker of Scott Carmichael, Tavis was a member of the second-place
team from the Father's Day Wiffleball Tourney from last year. His
team lost to Dave Cain's team in the finals, 1-0. He was first placed
on Holmberg's team, but only days after committing, was traded to
Scott's Holy Whites for Matt Smith.
Tavis looked
solid with a bat. Not "Dave Cain solid" but solid nonetheless.
He could conceivably top 20 homeruns if you give him 125-150 ABs
as he has a quick, powerful swing. He is yet to face game speed,
but he was hitting better in BP the harder the pitcher was throwing.
He can hit the inside pitch better than most, and seems to have
a decent eye, especially considering he's new.
Tavis will also
be a solid pitcher. He is again reminiscent of Dave Cain, but he
throws harder. Good accuracy, unknown offspeed pitch. He may get
hit a little bit early in the season if he leaves the ball up, but
if he starts to get the hang of using our zone, he could impress.
Then again, hitters traditionally struggle a bit out of the gate,
so maybe Tavis will be impressive all season.
Completely workable
defense is found here. He'll learn the rules since he's got Carmichael
as a teammate, and both Carmichael and Walsh will be able to advise
him on positioning. |
