Opening Doubleheader
Horsemen versus Road Warriors

Game 1
The Road Warriors, with surprise attendee Darnell Uhland, passed another huge test Sunday as they easily handled the 2002 champion Horsemen Sunday.

Darnell's play was far from stellar, but it was clear he inspired his teammates as they swept the Horsemen, winning 3-0 and 5-0.

In the first game, Dave Cain led off his team with a single and was immediately followed by a two-run homerun by Curtis Henning off starting pitcher Ian Byrd. In the next inning, off Eric Christensen, Cain muscled one through the wind that put the Warriors up 3-0.

The only hits the Horsemen managed were singles by both Christensen and Joey Creighton in the second inning. As a team, they struck out eight times.

Final Score: 3-0, Road Warriors

Game 2
The Horsemen decided to get a little risky in the second game and give Eric the ball for the first inning. The Warriors only had three players and the Horsemen had all four, meaning a four inning game would be played, meaning all Horsemen pitchers would only throw one inning. The team thought that maybe Eric's throwing first would disrupt the Warriors' bats.

They were wrong.

Dave Cain hit two tw-run homeruns in the first inning, giving the Warriors a quick 4-0 lead. The way the wind was blowing, the Horsemen had their work cut out for them if they planned on cutting into that lead. They wouldn't be up to the task, as the Warriors' arms kept them off balance all game, this time allowing only three singles in the game.

Curtis Henning added a solo shot off Ian in the bottom of the third as the Warriors moved to 9-2 on the year, one season removed from starting 2-9. And now, you could argue that Darnell is the "weak link" on his team. In other words, this is a very good team.

Wiffolution versus Horsemen

Homeruns were hard to come by at the Byrd House Sunday, but Wiffolution didn't need them to beat the Horsemen.

Wiffolution scored three runs off Ian Byrd in the top of the second, with no homeruns, and then held on tight for a 3-2 victory.

Seth Yoder and Byrd both hit homeruns in the game, giving the Horsemen their first runs of the day. However, the deciding ABs didn't go as planned.

In the bottom of the third, down 3-2 and with Dean Evans on the mound, the Horsemen put runners on second and third with only one out. Seth Yoder though would harmlessly pop out to Dean and Ian would ground out to Dean to end the threat.

Matt Plummer looked invincible on the mound, acting as the horse of the Wiffolution staff in Sylvester's place, tossing two shutout innings with 5 Ks.

Final Score: 3-2, Wiffolution
