Doubleheader Game
1 All the runs came in the third inning with Dean Evans on the mound. Joey Creighton led off the inning with a double the other way, and then scored on Yoder's double. Creighton would then double again, this time down the first base line, bringing home Yoder, who hustled all the way from second. Creighton then pitched the top of the fourth, and secured the victory for the defending champs. Final Score: 2-0, Horsemen Game
2 Matt would lead off the bottom of the second by taking a high and in fastball from Seth Yoder out of the park in left field, putting Wiffolution up 1-0. The impressive shot, done with the wind blowing in hard, forced even Yoder to admire it, who in all honesty threw a near-impossible pitch to hit. In the bottom of the third, with Eric Christensen on the mound, Wiffolution mounted a rally. Eric would load the bases with two walks and a single, then give up a run-scoring single to Matt Plummer and a run-scoring walk to Jeff Morrison. That would be enough for Wiffolution, as the only offense the Horsemen could muster were two singles from Byrd. Final Score: 3-0, Wiffolution Nitecap Controversy reigned in the nitecap, but when the dust cleared and the book was made official, Wiffolution walked away victorious. The wind was apparent as the hot Holy Whites were no-hit through two full innings. Wiffolution on the other hand, put runners in scoring position each of their first two innings, but could not score either. In the top of the third, Carmichael and Deatrick would hit back-to-back doubles, scoring one. The controversy began during Deatrick's 2B, in actuality a ball hit deep enough to be a homerun, but possibly not between the lines. According to sources, the teams agreed to compromise, allowing John to take a double. Not a foul ball, but not a homerun. Right in the middle. However, in the bottom of the inning, after a one-out walk by Dean, Matt Plummer crushed a ball down the same line John had, only deeper. No real argument was made, although some Holy Whites representatives claimed the ball was "no more fair" then John's was a half-inning earlier. As it was, Wiffolution took the 2-1 lead. Matt Plummer then came in for the top of the fourth and mowed through the Whites' lineup, striking out two and ending the game. Plummer proved to be a tough hombre, throwing five scoreless, dominant innings, and was the only guy on the day to hit a homerun at the Byrd House. Final Score: 2-1, Wiffolution Boxscores
