Doubleheader Game
1 Originally, the team was planning to present only Curtis Henning and Pat Plummer Sunday as Darnell was still in SD and Dave Cain was at a baseball tournament. Darnell thought it would be a great day for Curtis and Pat to pick up some experience, but the plan crumbled when Pat had to cancel due to personal reasons. However, by stroke of luck (or something), Dave Cain's baseball tournament was cancelled due to fields not being ready. Still, his team planned a last-minute camping trip roughly 3 hours from Chico. Darnell found out about this, told Curtis, and soon the Commish received a call stating that the Warriors "would be fielding a team on Sunday." It would be Curtis and Dave, as Dave cancelled his camping trip and came home. Wiffolution probably just wished he would get in a car accident on the way home. The Warriors received no fight from Wiffolution as they easily took Game 1, 8-0. Jeff Morrison and Cain exchanged 1-2-3 innings in the first, but it was simply a warmups for the Warriors. Evans quickly picked up 2 Ks in the top of the second, but then he made a fatal mistake, walking Curtis. Dave would follow with a double, which was followed by a Henning homerun, and all of the sudden it's 3-0. And with the Warriors' arms, that pretty much means the game's over. The Warriors only allowed one hit (a single to Jeff in the third) and they reeled off three more homeruns en route to a decisive 8-0 victory. Final Score: 8-0, Road Warriors Game
2 Dean started things off for his team in the top of the first, taking Dave Cain opposite way for a solo homerun, his 9th of the year. He singled as well, but Jeff's three Ks kept anymore runs from scoring. It should be noted that at this point, Jeff was not having a great day and was not very happy. He then had to step to the mound in the bottom of the inning and promptly got bitch-slapped. Dave Cain led off with a 2B, and Curtis grounded out. Dave doubled again, scoring one, and Curtis singled, putting runners on 1st and 3rd. Dave then launched his 15th homerun of the year, matching last year's total and making it 4-1, Warriors. Curtis added solo bomb to deep center field, and Dave followed with his THIRD double of the inning (and fifth of the day, which must be some kind of record). Somehow though, Jeff picked up two straight Ks, ending the bleeding. The Warriors were in no mood to exchange gifts though as they would not allow a hit for the rest of the game. They also put runners in scoring position in both the second and third, but Dean and Jeff toughed out of what could have been horrifying innings to make the final score look respectable. Final Score: 5-1, Road Warriors Nitecap After starting the day 1-15 with 9 Ks, Morrison finally woke up, going 3-8 with 3 homeruns. With Dean on the mound in the top of the first, Tavis drew a two-out walk, and was followed by an RBI triple from Scott Carmichael. The triple was mainly thanks to two throwing errors by Jeff and Dean, who had problems playing catch all day. Jeff tied the game up in the bottom of the second with a soaring homerun to center off Mike Walsh. Dean followed with two consecutive singles, but Wiffolution was unable to capitalize. Dean then took the mound in the top of the third. Scott led off with a single, and after Mike struck out, he gave Tavis another free pass to first. Scott brought everyone home with a lined shot to left-center, putting the Whites up 4-1. Wiffolution then came to bat in the bottom of the third against Tavis, likely facing their last chance to score runs since Carmichael would be tossing the fourth inning. Morrison started it off by striking out, putting him at 2-20 on the day. Dean then came up and hit a groundball to Scott, who was fielding in right. Scott fielded the ball fine, but could not find the base in the shadows allowing Dean, who gets from the plate to first perhaps faster than anyone in the league, to beat it out. Jeff struck out again, making it two outs and giving him 13 Ks on the day. Dean though would work the count and drew a walk, giving Morrison one more chance. He took advantage, getting enough bat on a Tavis curveball to send it out of the park and tying the game. Presented with new life, Wiffolution kept it going. Dean hammered a ball oppo for his 10th homer of the year (his lone individual goal for the year), and Morrison followed with a flare down the right field line that barely made it over. After Dean struck out to end the inning, Wiffolution led, 6-4. Morrison had a tough task awaiting him in the top of the fourth though. Impressively, he got Walsh and Beynon by strikeout, and then allowed a single to Scott. Mike then singled, putting the go-ahead run at the plate. Tavis though would strike out, ending the game and giving Wiffolution the improbable victory. Scott finished 4-6 with a 3B and HR, falling only a 2B short of picking up the first-ever cycle in league history. Joey Creighton came the closest back in 2001 when he had everything but a single, as odd as that sounds. Final Score: 6-4, Wiffolution Boxscores
