Doubleheader Game
1 His last HR crown was back in 1994, and Carmichael has taken it every year since, but Joey's 3 HRs in Game 1 pulled him even with Scott Carmichael and left him only one behind Bill Rozak for the league lead. As it was, the Horsemen rode that wave to a 7-4 victory. The first shot was the biggest, as Joey took Tavis Beynon deep for a three-run shot in the top of the first. Ian Byrd added a solo shot to give the Horsemen an early 4-0 lead. Scott hit a two-run shot of his own in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-2. He left one up to Joey though in the top of the second, who promptly placed it in deep center for a solo shot. Tavis and Scott small-balled two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 5-4, but Joey hit a two-run shot off Scott in the top of the fourth to give his team a three-run cushion. He then tossed a 1-2-3 inning to secure the win. Final Score: 7-4, Horsemen Game
2 In what could very well be the 34th time these two teams have played in a 2-1 game, the Horsemen came out on top. Joey hit a two-out, two-run homerun in the bottom of the first. Scott answered in the top of the second, but his answer was only a solo shot. Neither team was unable to score from then on, leaving the score as it was. The Whites put men on second and third with no outs in the top of the fourth, but were unable to score either runner. Seth Yoder arrived late, but in time to pitch the third inning, and aside from a walk to Tavis, struck out the side. At the plate, though, he went 0-3 with 2 Ks. Final Score: 2-1, Horsemen Nitecap The Holy Whites' pitching arms proved that they don't need to resort to Wiffolution's style to beat the Playerz. After picking up seven walks in his doubleheader opposite Wiffolution, Bill Rozak was not walked once by the Holy Whites. He did go 2-5 with a 2B and a HR, but those two hits were all the Playerz could manage as they dropped the nitecap, 3-1. The loss mathematically eliminated them from the playoff race, and with their bye on the league's last gameday, it also meant it was their last game. Scott Carmichael homered in the bottom of the first off Matt Smith, giving the Whites the 1-0 lead. Against Bill in the bottom of the second, they loaded the bases but were unable to drive any in, and then Bill tied the game up with a solo shot off Tavis in the top of the third. Robins walked Tavis to lead the bottom of the third off, and then surrendured a shot to Carmichael which put the Whites up for good. Scott would set the Playerz down 1-2-3 in the top of the fourth to end the game. By showing up to the games, Bill officially qualified for the stat leaders, meaning he is now the unofficial new record holder in both OB% (.564) and batting average (.465). This gameday was his sixth, and a player needs to be at half of his team's gamedays to qualify. This happened to be the Playerz' 12th and final gameday, giving the Bill the 50% he needed. As it was, he left the league with some outrageous power numbers (29 HRs in 114 ABs), nearly on par with Carmichael's historic 1999 season (41 HRs in 140 ABs). Is he the Rookie of the Year? We'll soon see what the voters say. Final Score: 3-1, Holy Whites Boxscores
