Wiffolution versus Holy Whites

Game 1
Without Scott around anymore, Wiffolution flexed one of their underused abilities to easily beat the Holy Whites.

Wiffolution, with all four members playing, combined to throw their first-ever no-hitter and beat the Holy Whites 5-0 to run their August record to 5-0.

They put up two runs in the bottom of the second with Casey Sylvester and Jeff Morrison picking up the RBIs. Jeff added his 20th (personal record) homerun off Tavis in the bottom of the second, and then he and Matt Plummer both hit solo shots in the third to account for all the scoring.

They were also in the running for a perfect game, but Matt Plummer walked Tavis in the final frame.

Game 2
Tavis Beynon's breakout game ended Wiffolution's hopes of an undefeated August.

Tavis Beynon, entering the tail end of the doubleheader with only one homerun in 42 ABs and an average of .214, went 7-10 with three homeruns to lead the Holy Whites to a 9-2 victory and a series split.

John Deatrick also added three homeruns as the Holy Whites reeled off 12 hits after being no-hit in the first game.

Wiffolution struck first in the top of the first, picking up a run as John Deatrick suffered through control problems. Tavis hit the first of his three homeruns in the bottom of the first, tying the game up. Wiffolution tacked on another run as Dean Evans singled home Matt Plummer, who had reached via single and mvoed to third on Jeff's 2B.

Deatrick and Beynon combined for three homeruns off Morrison, and then added five runs off Evans, with both Beynon and Deatrick hitting solo shots.

Both Deatrick and Beynon tossed 1-2-3 innings in the 3rd and 4th innings, respectively to end the game.

Wiffolution versus Road Warriors

The ressurection of Wiffolution looks legit.

In their fourth game since Jeff Morrison promised his team would finish the season 12-0, a rejuvenated Morrison hit two homeruns, including a grandslam, to lead Wiffolution to a big 6-3 victory over the first-place Road Warriors. The win put Wiffolution at 12-16 and pulled them to a 4th-place tie with the Playerz (13-17) in the standings. They're also now only a game back of the Horsemen and the 3rd-place honor that is rewarded with a trip to the postseason. Since making the statement, Wiffolution is 4-0.

Brothers Pat and Matt Plummer both exchanged scoreless first innings to start the game off, and Jeff got through his inning in the top of the second, only allowing a walk.

Darnell walked Plummer to lead off the bottom of the second, and then gave up back-to-back singles to Jeff and Dean. After Matt struck out, Jeff hit a towering drive to deep center for the grandslam. Dean lined out, and Matt hit a homerun of his own, a solo job to left before Jeff hit yet another homerun, this time to left-center. Darnell then got Dean by K to stop the bleeding.

Dean gave up two singles to Pat, but handled Darnell and allowed no runs. Pat then tossed yet another impressive scoreless inning, breaking a record with his 8th inning in a day without a run given up. His ERA dropped from 2.29 to 1.45.

In the top of the fourth, the Road Warriors yet again showed signs of life, off Matt Plummer no less. Little brother Pat struck out again, but Darnell singled. Pat followed with a single of his own, and Darnell picked up a free pass. Pat hit into a force-out at home, but Darnell singled home their first run since Game 1. Pat then came within inches of another grandslam, hitting the back end of the sidewalk to give the Road Warriors a 2-run double. Darnell walked again, loading the bases and bringing the Warriors' winning run to the plate. Matt focused in though, and struck out his brother to end the game.
