Doubleheader Game
1 Matt, a rookie, threw two shutout innings, striking out five and walking none. He also hit a homerun (his second), in a four run inning that saw Wiffolution score all their runs. Dean Evans also hit two homeruns that inning, both off John Deatrick. The two homeruns gave Dean six on the year, only two shy of his season high, set last season. Deatrick didn't have the greatest game, giving up all four runs and going 0-7 at the plate with 5 Ks. He and Scott Carmichael were the only Holy White representatives for the day. Final Score: 4-0, Wiffolution Game
2 Carmichael had the most fun, going 7-12 with 5 homeruns and 10 RBIs. Reportedly, one of the homeruns was a roof shot off Jeff Morrison. It is the first roof shot in a regular season game in the history of the league. Scott hit the roof once during a homerun derby, Dave Cain hit the roof roughly 3-4 times during last season's homerun derby, and Clint Wattenberg hit the roof in a Winterball game in late 2001. John Deatrick fared much better, going 5-12 with two homeruns and tossing two shutout innings. Yes, that's right, Scott Carmichael gave up two runs. The first was a homerun to Jeff in the first inning to dead center. The second was a solo shot to Matt Plummer in the third inning down the right field line. The two homeruns Scott gave up are officially double what he gave up all of last year. Final Score: 8-6, Playerz Nitecap The Warriors' pitching was riding high, but Scott Carmichael brought it back down to earth in the nitecap at The Sac. Scott went 3-6 with three homeruns, the last of which being a walk-off, giving the Holy Whites a 4-3 victory and allowing them to keep pace with the first-place Road Warriors. In fact, all hits in the game were homeruns. Dave Cain added two, one off Scott, to bring his season total to 10. Curtis Henning had the other, giving him his sixth homerun, putting him on pace to tie the rookie record (18). There were no other hits in the game, as both Darnell Uhland and John Deatrick went hitless. Scott's second homerun of the game came off Curtis Henning and tied the game at three. He then took Darnell deep in the bottom of the fourth to end the game. The ball was nearly robbed by Dave Cain, who couldn't hang on and inadvertently knocked it into homerun territory. The win leaves the Whites (5-4) 2.5 games back of the Warriors (9-3). Final Score: 4-3, Holy Whites Boxscores
