Doubleheader Game
1 The Horsemen, without Ian Byrd, fell back on their strength--pitching--and handed Wiffolution duel shutout defeats. Things started out oddly enough, as Casey Sylvester, known for his pitching, walked the first three batters, loading the bases before getting an out. He got Seth to ground into a fielder's choice, then struck out Eric, but Joey singled home a run to put the Horsemen up 1-0. No scoring would occur after that until the top of the fourth. Seth led off against Dean with a single, and was followed by a walk for Eric. Joey singled, loading the bases. Dean struck out Seth, but walked Eric again (scoring one), and then surrenduring a grand slam to Joey. He then struck out Seth and got Eric to ground out. Against Seth, Wiffolution loaded the bases, but could not bring in a run and took the shutout. One highlight of the game was the entire third inning, as Casey Sylvester and Joey Creighton pitched and combined for a grand total of ten pitches. The entire inning literally took like three minutes to complete. Final Score: 6-0, Horsemen Game
2 In the bottom of the first, with Casey on the mound, Joey handed Eric the camera and told him to "get his homerun on tape." He then took the first offering from Casey deep to center for a homerun. As it was, that shot proved to be the game-winner as no more runs were scored. Wiffolution put men in scoring position in the first three innings, but could not "execute" and get them home. Seth Yoder then tossed a flawless fourth to secure the second shutout. Final Score: 1-0, Horsemen Nitecap With Dean's arm on the ropes and Wiffolution's bats nowhere to be seen, the new-look Playerz picked up the easy win. The Playerz sported a new player, Bill Rozak, who had a very successful debut, going 4-7 with two homerun and pitched a scoreless inning. Wiffolution actually led early in the game when Casey Sylvester finally put them on the board with a solo shot in the bottom of the second off John Robins. However, Dean had to throw the top of the third, and that's when things got crazy. Casey made two straight errors to start the inning off, putting runners on first and third. Robins walked, loading the bases, and Bill popped out. The pop-out would have been the third out had Casey made the earlier plays. Instead, Smith followed with an RBI single. John Robins lined out (as far as Dean was concerned, the 4th out), and Bill followed with his first homerun, a grandslam down the left field line. The screws came off for Dean, who allowed a single to Matt and then gave up back-to-back walks before giving up another grandslam (to Matt). John then doubled, Bill singled, and Smith hit a 3-run homerun. Finally, John K'd to end the 5-out inning. All told, 12 runs scored in the inning. Bill added another opposite-way homerun in the top of the 4th to make it 13-1, and then Smith shut the door, pitching a scoreless fourth inning. Final Score: 13-1, Playerz Boxscores
