Doubleheader
Horsemen versus Holy Whites

Game 1
Eric wasn't there, but it didn't matter to the Scott Carmichael and the Holy Whites, who did their best to make Joey Creighton LOOK like Eric.

Scott hit four homeruns off Joey and accounted for all eight RBIs as the Holy Whites took Game 1, 8-2.

The first homerun came in the bottom of the first. Joey struck out the first two batters, but Scott got ahold of one in his second try. The homerun came after Scott got out of a no-out jam in the top of the first. Joey singled, and Ian doubled, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Scott then struck out the side from there on out, and got Joey to break his bat on a check swing to boot.

Ian and John traded scoreless innings in the second, and Scott got out of another jam in the third.

He gave up an opposite way single to Joey, and after striking Ian out, surrendured Joey's 16th double of the year to left. He then got Ian to ground out, and then Joey as well. And then he went to town on Joey.

He led off the inning with a solo shot, and after John doubled, he singled, moving him to 3rd. Joey then walked John (only his 3rd free pass of the season), but got Scott to pop out and John to strike out to pick up two quick outs. Scott made it worthless though, hitting a grandslam off Joey, and then one AB later, hitting a two-run shot. John mercifully grounded out, but by then the score was 8-0.

Joey hit a two-run shot off John in the top of the fourth, a meaningless shot if there ever was one, but John got out of the inning without further damage to make the win official.

Over at The Byrd House, Wiffolution won Game 1, 3-0, to pull themselves to a tie for 3rd place with the Horsemen.

Game 2
Seth Yoder finally shows up, and all of the sudden, the Horsemen can pitch again.

Yoder tossed two scoreless innings on top of going 1-3 with his 10th homerun of the season as the Horsemen kept their playoff hopes alive with a 2-0 shutout.

Ian Byrd drove in the other run with his 15th homerun.

One inning after being torched for 7 runs, Joey got a 1-2-3 inning out of John and Scott, and Ian had one for himself as the Horsemen completed a two-hitter.

The Whites also gave up only two hits, but the back-to-back shots given up by Scott put more runs on the board then the singel and double the Whites picked up.

Good news for the Horsemen was that Wiffolution lost Game 2, 6-0, putting the Horsemen back on top by a game.

Nitecap
Wiffolution versus Holy Whites
As predicted earlier, Matt Plummer was going to have a big say on whether Wiffolution made the playoffs.

Matt homered in his first three ABs of the game (including two off Scott) as Wiffolution staked a 6-1 lead and cruised toa 8-6, playoff-clinching victory. Couple with the Horsemen loss to the Road Warriors at The Byrd House, the two teams were tied, but Wiffolution got the nod thanks to their 5-3 season record over the Horsemen.

Matt led off the game with a solo shot off Carmichael. Jeff struck out, and Dean grounded out, but Matt homered again. Jeff figured out what game was being played, and hit one out himself before the inning ended.

Scott took Matt deep in the bottom of the first, but only once, as Wiffolution lead 3-1. Matt then led off the top of the second with a homerun off Deatrick, and Jeff followed with his third scoreless inning of the day, keeping Wiffolution on top 4-1.

Scott came to the mound again, and after issuing a two-out walk to Matt, gave up a two-run shot to Jeff. He was able to respond in the bottom of the third with a two-run shot off Dean, who then struck out three batters to end the threat.

Wiffolution kept hitting off Deatrick. Jeff and Dean hit back-to-back singles, and Matt doubled home a run. Jeff struck out, but Dean singled home a run before John could escape.

Matt gave up a three-run shot to Scott in the bottom of the fourth, but with he was able to get Deatrick each time he faced him and the game was over.

This will be the Holy Whites and Wiffolution's third straight trip to the playoffs. The Whites are the 2001 champions, and Wiffolution had never seen life after the first round. Their first-round games will start as announced.
