Summaries Opening
Doubleheader Game
1 Matt went 3-7 with a pair of homeruns to lead Wiffolution to a 6-2 victory over the Yoder-less Horsemen, who simply had serious problems getting Wiffolution members out Sunday. Jeff Morrison also hit a pair of homeruns (as well as going 3-7) and Dean Evans hit one out. The trio went back-to-back-to-back off Ian Byrd in the top of the second. Jeff started the scoring in the first with a solo shot off Joey to left-center. They scored four runs in the afore-mentioned second inning before Jeff gave up a solo homerun to Joey to cut the lead to 5-1. Ian would single and Joey doubled (record-tying #12), but they couldn't put across anymore runs. Plummer added a solo shot off Joey in the third, and Dean threw a rare shutout inning in the bottom half. Eric Christensen arrived around that time as Ian tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the fourth. He then came up in the bottom of the inning and laced one right down the right field line off Matt for a solo shot. Little did we know that that would be the final run Matt would surrender on the day as Wiffolution cruised to the win. Final Score: 6-2, Wiffolution Game
2 Jeff Morrison hit a walk-off grandslam in the bottom of the 5th to give Wiffolution a 10-7 win and a sweep of the Horsemen. The Horsemen scored three runs off Jeff in the top of the second, staking themselves a 3-run lead before Eric took the hill. Eric gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning, leaving the Horsemen in decent shape. Dean tossed another scoreless inning, and Wiffolution tied the game up in the bottom of the third with an RBI single from Plummer. Joey Creighton and Plummer both picked up 1-2-3 innings in the fourth as the game headed to extra innings. Joey led off the 5th with a solo homerun, and Ian later added a 3-run shot before Jeff could get the third out. Matt Plummer struck hard in the bottom of the inning, immediately driving an Eric offering deep to left and cutting the lead to 7-4. Jeff singled, and Dean walked before Eric struck out Matt for the first out. Jeff singled again, bringing the winning run to the plate. Dean walked, scoring one, as did Plummer, which cut the lead to 7-6. Morrison then drove a high and away offering from Christensen deep to center to emphatically end the game. Final Score: 10-7, Wiffolution Nitecap Eric made sure to make up for the previous game, and the Road Warriors were the recipients. Eric led off the bottom of the 4th with a game-ending solo homerun to give the Horsemen a 6-5 victory and salvage at least one game of their three on the day. Joey got into quick trouble against Darnell Uhland and Dave Cain in the top of the first. He gave up a single to Darnell, and then one to Dave before Darnell doubled home a run. Joey was able to strike out Dave though, and then get Darnell on a lineout and Dave on a groundout, ending the threat. The Horsemen could only manage two singles off Darnell in the bottom half, and then Dave took Eric deep in the top of the second, giving the Warriors a 3-0 lead. They tied the game up however in the bottom of the inning, going back-to-back-to-back off a fatigued Cain who had thrown a complete game in his hardball season the night before. Darnell led off the top of the third with a solo shot off Ian, putting his team up 4-3. Eric answered, taking Darnell opposite way for a two-run job that put the Horsemen back on top 5-4. Joey ruined it though, giving up an opposite-homerun of his own to Darnell, which tied the game up again. Then, in the bottom of the inning, Eric took Dave's first pitch down the left-field line to end the game and give us our third walk-off homerun of the weekend. Final Score: 6-5, Horsemen Boxscores
