Doubleheader
Playerz versus Road Warriors

Game 1
After the offensive explosion last weekend, players suddenly lost the ability to score runs. Pat Plummer was the first to figure it out, and the Road Warriors took Game 1, 9-3.

The game lasted eight full innings, with neither team scoring until the final frame. After seven full innings, the Road Warriors had no runs on only two hits while the Playerz were held scoreless on only four hits.

In the top of the 8th, with Bill Rozak on the mound, Darnell led off with a double down the left-field line. Pat grounded out, but Darnell's single put men on first and third. Pat walked to load the bases, and Darnell walked to finally put a run on the board. Pat then crushed a Rozak offering to deep center to clear the bases and give the Road Warriors a 5-0 lead. Darnell grounded out, but Pat hit another solo shot to make it 6-0. He and Darnell hit back-to-back singles, and then Darnell got into it, smoking a 3-run shot to make it 9-0. Pat then grounded out to end the onslaught.

Darnell walked Matt Smith to start the bottom of the inning, and then gave up a two-run shot to Rozak. John Robins and Smith hit consecutive pop-outs, and Rozak hit another shot to deep right, cutting the lead to 9-3. Robins then grounded out to end the game.

Final Score: 9-3, Road Warriors

Game 2
The hitting was again held in check, but this time the Playerz stopped the Road Warriors from staging any late-game rallies.

Bill Rozak hit a solo homerun in the top of the 2nd, and Matt Smith added an RBI single in the top of the 4th to account for all the scoring as the Playerz picked up the split, 2-0.

The Warriors threatened in the last inning, as Darnell again led off with a double. Both he and Pat would ground out though, before Pat earned a free pass. As the winning run, Darnell then lined out to a leaping John Robins to end the game.

Pat followed his heroic Game 1 with an 0-7 effort in Game 2, although he did toss two scoreless innings, running his day's streak to six IP. He also picked up an amazing three double plays while on the mound in the doubleheader. Smith tossed five scoreless innings in the doubleheader. John Robins and Darnell Uhland led all hitters with three hits in the second game.

Final Score: 2-0, Playerz

Nitecap
Playerz versus Holy Whites

It may gave been a grey Dodge Ram instead of a white stead, but to the Holy Whites, Scott Carmichael's arrival was like that of a fairytale.

Scott showed up out of nowhere and led his team to a 6-4 win over the Playerz in a rescheduled nitecap.

It was simply John Deatrick and Tavis Beynon playing for the Holy Whites to begin opposite Bill Rozak and Matt Smith of the Playerz. About the same time Bill recorded the third out, Scott pulled in, giving him plenty of time to watch Bill take Deatrick deep to start off the bottom of the first. It was Bill's 24th homerun of the year, tying him with Dave Cain for the league lead.

Scott immedaitely made an impact, doubling home a run in the top of the second off Smith. John walked, which loaded the bases for Tavis, but he grounded into a double play to end the inning.

Tavis then surprised everyone with an exceptional inning, getting three quick groundouts. Scott led off the top of the third with a single, and after Deatrick grounded out, Tavis and Scott picked up consecutive walks. That awoke John, who took Rozak deep for a grandslam. Tavis flied out, but Scott added another homerun to the inning, pulling himself into a three-way tie for the homerun lead.

He then dazzled the fans, tossing the usual "Carmichael Inning" in typical fashion, striking out two and generally making hitters look helpless. The fans hadn't seen Carmichael toss in awhile, and seemed to enjoy it.

After a scoreless top of four, Bill hit a three-run shot off Deatrick, who was trying to close out the win. The homerun gave Bill his first taste of the league lead, with #25. Still, John would get Matt to strike out immediately after to end the game.

Final Score: 6-4, Holy Whites
