Notes:
Jason Eberhadrt is the perfect representation of what our 1998 season was about. After a miserable 1997 season, the league
was looking for a restart at the new field, and Jason was one of the new talents brought in to ensure that games would return to the high caliber of play
seen during the 1996 season. He was a throwback in that he absolutely refused to accept walks. His quote "I'd rather strike out than walk" sums up the general
feeling of the league as a whole back then, when since there were no playoffs, guys cared about little more than their own personal numbers. Taking walks only
meant you were robbing yourself of a chance to go yard, which was pretty much the basis of Jason's game. Not a great pitcher, Jason nonetheless won the
first-ever Rookie of the Year award thanks to his league-leading .403 batting average, 1.028 slugging percentage, and 43.31 batter rating. The guy could
mash with the best of 'em. His dedication left something to be desired though, and he was not heard from again after his successful first year.
