Notes:
Jeff Morrison is well known for transforming himself from an anemic slap-hitter (1998, 1999) to a prosperous and dangerous slap-hitter (2000-2001) to a less-slappy/more dangerous power threat (2002, 2003). Few though recall that while Jeff was typically a terrible pitcher, he actually started out as one of the league's best. Those who never saw Jeff play before the 2000 season will find it nearly impossible to comprehend Jeff's 1999 pitching numbers. In 41.0 innings (in other words, more than a full season), Jeff finished not only with a 2.34 ERA, but an unbelievable .193 opponent's average, second only to the peerless Scott Carmichael's .185, and the 4th-best mark of ALL-TIME. In the off-season afterwards, Jeff suffered a shoulder injury in his throwing arm and would never again achieve an opponents's average better than .338 or an ERA better than 5.13. During those many rough innings, you could see on his face that it killed him not being able to bring it the way his former self could while on the mound, yet he continued to give the league extrememly dedicated (if not pained) service.
