40/40 Club

It's easy
to look at one particular number, or one feat when trying to find
the best wiffleball player in the league. But if you really want
to find who's put up the best all-round season, it's hard to ignore
the members of the "40/40 Club."
It's a very
exclusive club, boasting only three members. Part of the exclusion
is thanks to the enormous accomplishments it asks its members
to produce. Essentially, if you want to be a member (and really,
who doesn't?), you have to put up good enough numbers to get a
40.00 rating in BOTH your hitting and your pitching. Believe it
or not, only three players in the history of the league have pulled
it off. Expectedly, Scott Carmichael is one of them, and he was
also the first, forming the club in 1996. He's since pulled off
the feat four more times (1998-2001).

Joey Creighton
was the second to do it, in 1999, and he did it again in 2000.
Finally, Casey Sylvester joined the club in 2001, barely making
the cut with his bat, posting a 40.15 rating. Numerous other people
have come close, but there's something about the "40/30 Club"
that just doesn't have the same ring. Still, we think they deserve
mention.
